Days 4-6

Day 4 was pretty cool- bananas+ skim milk. I like to eat bananas. So the day was a cake walk, except for the fact that it was my friend’s birthday and we went to Buffalo Wild Wings. All I had was a glass of unsweetened iced tea. :( Slept at 4 am too.

Day 5- I ate baked tofu and some salad. Didn’t drink as much water because I was shopping. Then I went for a late night movie.

Day 6- I feel really cranky today. All I’ve eaten is a bowl of salad, a cup of basmati rice, 2 small tomatoes, and one orange. I feel really irritated and can’t wait for Day 7 to be over tomorrow. I’ll take a couple of days off this diet and eat some dal and roti.

So far, I’ve lost 10 pounds. I feel much lighter. My clothes fit me better and I’m quite glad.

Day 3

Okay- so I successfully managed to only survive on a glass of unsweetened iced tea while people all around me were feasting on salsa, chips, beer, margaritas, chicken (I am a vegetarian though) at Chevy’s. It was a miserable one hour.

I seem to have lost some more. I am five pounds lighter now. I think most of it is water weight. I feel considerably healthier from inside. I don’t ever want to have that “stuffed” feeling again. So I’ve decided to eat out only occasionally. Even though I love to eat outside, the food is not very healthy. Plus the portion size is too big in the US. The first time I arrived in the States, I found the soda bottle size in gas stations, restaurants to be shocking. People here eat too much. I’ve never been this fat in my entire life.

Anyway, so I do feel quite cranky. Must be the detox. It doesn’t help that the trackpad of my Macbook isn’t functioning properly. It’s only been less than a year. I took it to the Genius bar yesterday and they reset some wires. It seemed to be working fine yesterday. But it’s getting unresponsive and all weird again. I’ve set up another appointment for tomorrow. I would prefer that they replace my trackpad now. I don’t want to make these frequent trips. My warranty expires in 17 days. I do not want to pay $250 for AppleCare. I would prefer using that money to buy an Airport Express or perhaps an iPod classic. The Genius who took a look at my MacBook did give me 90 days extended warranty for my Macbook’s trackpad. Let’s see what they’ll do tomorrow.

First weekend tomorrow when I don’t get to eat/drink outside. Finding things to do will be a real challenge. Maybe it’s a good time to go sit in a park or take a nice walk. Or visit some museums. Anything that doesn’t involve food and/or drinks. My neighbors wanted to take me out for dinner tomorrow. I guess I’ll have to turn it down now.

End of Day Two

I’m craving every unhealthy food that’s out there- Banana Split, a big Hyderabadi Biryani, Chocolate Mousse…I don’t know what else. LOL. I hope I can survive this week. Phew.

Tomorrow will be another interesting day- I am supposed to go out for lunch with the business. They want to celebrate the success of a recent project on which I was the Project Manager. Sticking to fruits and veggies at Chevy’s will be quite a challenge. Hmmm.

Update at 10.10 pm- I measured myself again. I’ve lost 2 more pounds since morning. That’s 4 pounds in total.

Day 2

Morning measurement: I lost about 2 lbs! :)

Going to start my day with a big potato and a dab of butter on it. Vegetables for the rest of the day. Will update the blog with my progress later.

Day 1 of GM Diet

Here I am some 10 pounds heavier since the start of this year. I feel really unhealthy. My pants from last year don’t fit me anymore. This is a crazy way of cleansing my system. But I think it will give me the kick start I need. The goal this time around is to keep the weight OFF and make a lifestyle change.

I’m supposed to eat fruits only on Day 1. It’s better to stick to melons supposedly. So I’ve been eating watermelons - ate almost half of a huge watermelon. It’s 5.35 pm now. I plan to finish the rest of the melon before I hit the bed. Might eat some tangerines too.

Had around 6 glasses of water so far. Need to drink 4 more glasses today. I run to the loo every 30 minutes which is highly annoying when you are trying to complete your SQL statements.

I’m excited about eating one piece of baked potato tomorrow. LOL. I’m doing this with another friend and we get to share our miseries. We’ll be cooking some asparagus for tomorrow. I’ve bought some lettuce based salad too. I’ll try to eat it without any dressing. :-\

I’m tired, so very, very tired of worrying about the poor rapists, the poor men who don’t respect women’s boundaries, the poor misogynists, those poor, poor guys. I’m so fucking sick of being more worried about the genitals they decided to use as weapons than the mental health and physical safety of the women they assaulted. No one is saying that setting a man on fire is an ideal response. But being sexually assaulted isn’t an ideal situation.

We live in a world where women who are raped are constantly chastised, blamed and emotionally (or even physically) spit on because they didn’t defend themselves well enough. We live in a world where one of the first questions a woman is asked upon disclosing a sexual assault is “did you fight back?” We live in a world where “why didn’t you fight back harder?” rolls right off the tongue. A world where people can still get away with arguing that it’s impossible to force a woman into sex, that a woman who really doesn’t want it can stop her attacker. We live in a world where it’s still frequently thought that a woman is better off dead than raped, and that fighting back without regard to your very life is seen as a prerequisite to basic respect.

Greek woman allegedly set attacker’s genitals on fire…or…the story of “you didn’t fight back hard enough” versus “oh that poor sexual assaulter! that woman is batshit!” - in other words, you need to read this. (via aaminah.) (via aishah) (via writinggirl2writingwoman)

Cara, this post is amazing.

Is this real? It looks absolutely perfect to me! I’d like to spend my happily ever after in a place that. And ideally, the malls and the good restaurants will only be a 20-minute horse ride away! :D
